About
Hi Parents!
I am your child's Kindergarten teacher for the 2019-2020 school year at Walt Disney Magnet. This will be my 7th year teaching Kindergarten and my second year here at Walt Disney. I am looking very forward to our year together to help your child meet their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
A little bit about my background...
I was born and raised in a town outside of Philadelphia, where I grew up with my 2 brothers. I graduated from high school in 2008 and I attended Miami University of Ohio. While at Miami, I studied Early Childhood Education and I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in 2012. I decided to give Chicago a go after I graduated so I took a nanny position for the first year that I lived here and I fell in love with the city. I got a job as a Kindergarten teacher in 2013 and I have been teaching every since!
Me as a teacher...
I am firm believer that every child deserves to be educated in a way that they will learn. I know from my experience that each child learns in a different way and that a personalized approach to education is going to be extremely beneficial for all of my students. I work on developing my student's growth mindset, which is a way of thinking that will help them persevere and achieve even when something is challenging. I also work to create a very positive community in class where students are all accepted and advocate for themselves and one another. I am here to help your child develop not only academically but also socially and emotionally through our year in Kindergarten. I am very fair but I am also firm. I have high expectations for academics as well as behavior and I work to develop mutual respect between myself and each of my students. I am extremely open and I am constantly developing my teaching skills by attending professional developments and reading books and articles that are relevant to the work that I want to accomplish. As a person, I am very energetic and caring. Both of these qualities are prevalent in my teaching and my management styles.
I am meant to guide your child through their Kindergarten year and help to instill a passion and love for learning. I am excited to partner with you to help your child reach their full potential as we begin our school year!
Best Regards,
Ms. Lauren Vogt
